Saddle Up for the Party in the Village!
Carmel Valley Historical Society (CVHS) and Carmel Valley Village Improvement Committee (CVVIC) have teamed up again for a cowboy-themed barn dance and fundraiser at Hidden Valley, 88 West Carmel Valley Road, Saturday, November 1, 2014, 7-11PM.
This year’s line up once again features the popular California Cowboys as headliners and dance band, along with local musician/promoter Kiki Wow donating her services as emcee. New this year as the opening act is award-winning local singer and songwriter Mike Beck, performing an acoustic solo set. Beck is a regularly featured performer at the National Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering; his six albums of original material have been recognized as some of the finest compositions on Western Americana. Western Horseman magazine recently named two of Beck’s songs in their list of 13 Best Cowboy Songs, alongside work by Lucinda Williams, Gene Autry, and others.
“I dig the good old Carmel Valley vibe at Hidden Valley,” explains Beck. “I love playing solo and am gonna play lots of local songs about the area, like “In Old California” from my album, Feel.” This album features cover art of a California buckaroo by renowned California artist, Jo Mora and, coincidentally, the silent auction at the Party is featuring a work by Jo Mora (along with other Valley goodies such as fine wines, gift certificates for lodging and restaurants, and more).
Tickets are $25 at the door or in advance at partyinthevillage.org, Hacienda Hay and Feed, Running Iron, CV Business Service, Do Re Mi, and The Feed Trough. Doors open at 6:30, and there will be a no-host bar by the CV Kiwanis, snacks for sale, wine and beer barrel raffles, and a silent auction. Sponsored by Hidden Valley: An Institute for the Arts for the benefit of CVVIC and CVHS.
